Professional biography

Dr Clamp is the International Chief Investigator for the Medical Research Council/ Cancer Research UK ICON8 phase III clinical trials programme, evaluating weekly chemotherapy fractionation in ovarian cancer. He held the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) clinical senior lecturer award 2007-2012. Dr Clamp studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. He undertook his medical oncology training at The Christie and was awarded a PhD for research on the anti-angiogenic protein fragment, endostatin.

 

He specialises in the drug treatment of women with ovarian and endometrial cancers and leads The Christie gynaecological cancers clinical trials team. Nationally, he is a member of the NCRI gynaecological cancer clinical studies group and heads their flagship trials programme in ovarian cancer, ICON8. He also has a special interest in the development of biomarkers of efficacy for anti-angiogenic treatments and is a member of the translational angiogenesis group at The Christie/The University of Manchester.
