Geriatric Oncology: Why Older Patients Need a Special Approach

This event took place in March 2018 and will be repeated in 2019.

The event raised awareness of geriatric oncology conditions and treatment options and developed a forum for multi professional groups to discuss and share knowledge and best practice.

The day welcomed a host of experts in this emerging field and progressive ideas were shared by the likes of Martin Vernon,
Dr Charles Kelly, and Dr Rob Morris.

Guest Speakers

Martin Vernon - National Clinical Director for Older People, NHS England

June Davies - National Cancer Rehabilitation Lead, Macmillan Cancer Support

Intended Audience

Medical, clinical and surgical oncologists, geriatricians, specialist nurses, GPs, allied health professionals, community hospital teams and junior doctors (foundation, core and specialist trainees)

This teaching will be delivered through a varied programmed of speaker presentations in the morning. An interactive MDT will take place after lunch and participative workshops will follow.

The day will provide the opportunity to meet all members of the multi-disciplinary team with the aim of building a support network to further improve patient care for the elderly patient.
