How we link with your GP and local services
Look on our training page for a list of courses and how we can deliver them. For classroom sessions you can book online from the intranet or phone us to book on them. You will need to phone to arrange one-to-one sessions or specific group sessions.
You will need a username and pin number to access your library account. Contact the library to get your username and pin number. Go to our online catalogue and to the login button (next to the green help button) on the top right hand side of the screen. Type in your username and pin. Contact us if you forget your username or pin.
We have 24 hour access. You will need your Christie ID badge to enter outside staffed hours.
Ask a librarian for a barcode so you can use the library self-service machine allowing 24/7 borrowing and returning of books, great for night staff. You can borrow up to 10 books if you are a full library member.
The Library is located on the second floor within the Library and Learning Zone (Dept 60). From the main corridor:

We offer classroom, one-to-one and bespoke group sessions. Look on our training page for a list of all our courses. To join a classroom session contact us or book online from the Intranet. For one-to-one or bespoke group sessions please contact the library.
You can email the publication details to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will upload it into the repository. Or you can upload a publication yourself, first contact our administrator (446 3455) as permission is needed. Then follow the instructions on the repository site. This publication will be checked before it is made public. Importantly it must be research that was produced while an individual was working for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
We will need to conduct a search for you with your input from you. Wmail the library with the details of the topic you are interested in and clearly state that you would like an update to be created for you. Each month we will run the search and send you any newly added abstracts to papers often with a full text link (where available).
ALL Christie staff and students can join. Fill out this form and send it to us or visit in person. We will need to see your ID badge. We will set you up. Please ask for an induction so you know how to find the information you want.
If we don’t hold the journal or book, we can order a copy for you to use. There is a charge for this service. We can check if you department currently pays for it.
Your ID badge allows you to photocopy. There are copyright restrictions on how much you can copy from a book or how many articles you can copy from one issue of a journal. The details of this are on a poster besides the copier. If you are uncertain check with library staff.
Your ID badge allows you to print. Again there are copyright restrictions. From the computer select to print.
Open the Library catalogue and login with your username and password (pin). Search for the title you want and tick the record. From the tool bar above select the book and padlock symbol and then click on the floppy disk symbol.
Use this form to recommend a book.
You can self-register preferably on an NHS machine but always with your work email address.
We have a book deposit box just by the library door or bring it into the library top floor and return using the self-service totem.
You can renew online by opening the library catalogue and login with your username and password (pin). Under My Portal summary you will see current loans, click on this and it is clear how to renew your books. You can phone us on 446 3452. If your books have reached their maximum number of renewals, then you will need to return them.

Open the library catalogue. You don’t need to login. Enter your term in the search bar selecting word, subject, author etc as applicable, and click the search arrow. You can modify your search with the modify results button.
You will need a Christie IT login to use the majority of computers in the library. 3 machines are for CRUK staff only.
You can bring in your own laptop and link it to our guest wifi network. You can’t link into the Christie network unless it is an authorised Christie machine.
