Professional biography

Dr Mullamitha completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Bombay in India in 1998 before moving to the UK and completing his medical oncology training at The Christie. He was appointed as Consultant Medical Oncologist here in 2007.

His special interest is in the personalised management of colorectal cancer and he has clinics and attachments at The Christie as well as throughout Greater Manchester. He is a lead principal investigator and co-investigator in a number of national as well as international phase II/III clinical trials. He is also particularly interested in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers from unknown primary and a partner in clinical trials in the same area. He is committed to the teaching of medical students as well as oncology trainees and is an undergraduate examiner with the University Hospital of South Manchester.

Dr Mullamitha is Trust Lead for Clinical Audit Team and Committee and chairs / oversees the audit program for the Trust. He set up the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Dataset (SACT) database and infrastructure for The Christie in lines with national recommendations. He is on the Appraiser Panel at the Christie and also represents the Royal College for various Consultant Appointments Advisor Committees. He is a clinical & educational supervisor as well as assessor for Medical Oncology trainees on ARCP panels.

In 2014 he took over as the Junior DR Lead for the FY2 and CMT doctors rotating through the Christie. In 201 2 he was nominated as Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
