Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria: Offering an option to disable animations (Animation from Interactions), ensuring headings are logical and hierarchical (Section Headings), ensuring users are made aware if links open in a new window or tab ( Change on Request), Making links clear out of context (Link Purpose (Link Only)).

Non-accessible content

Most of our PDF documents are not fully accessible to users of screen reader software. This includes our annual reports, impact reports, standing order forms, payroll giving guides and forms, lottery sign up form and documents containing branding and marketing materials.

Disproportionate burden

PDFs

Many of our PDFs including annual reports, impact reports, standing order forms, payroll giving guides and forms, lottery sign up form and documents containing branding and marketing materials are not fully accessible to users of screen reader software.

We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. These are published on our disproportionate burden assessments page.

PDF sign up forms, information guides and fundraising packs are not intended as reading materials, but printable alternatives to donate or printable branding materials.

Older PDFs and other documents

Our PDFs are essential to providing our services.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
