Meet Head Gardener, Phill Walker. Thanks to the generosity of Christie Charity supporters, Phill and his team maintain welcoming outdoor spaces across The Christie estate, helping create a safe, peaceful and comforting environment for patients, families and staff.
Julie Oxley’s son James, aged 19, was treated at The Christie for a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer before he sadly died. Julie tells us how the gardens became a place of comfort and escape during an incredibly difficult time. She shares how the moments spent together outdoors; reflecting and enjoying the peace, gave them precious time away from appointments and treatment.
The gardens play an important role in supporting wellbeing and providing moments of reflection during difficult times.
