Our researchers want to carry out clinical trials to develop new treatments and improve outcomes for patients. Your donation could help pay for a researcher’s time to analyse results.
Your Christmas gift could also help to fund projects like our art and relaxation rooms, offering patients a sanctuary to engage in creative activities and connect with others who share similar experiences.
During treatment, patients also need ongoing care and monitoring. For example, our 10 local Christie blood clinics mean patients can get routine tests closer to home – and this service is also funded by Christie Charity supporters. Your donation could help fund more vital services that support our patients when they need it most.
How The Christie supports patients
No one wants to be in hospital during the festive season but for many Christie patients, it’s a reality. And our clinicians at The Christie do all they can to make sure as many cancer patients can enjoy longer, better lives to spend with their loved ones – not just at Christmas, but all year round.
One patient who is looking forward Christmas this year is Claudia from Salford Quays. After being diagnosed with a rhabdomyosarcoma on her spinal cord, Claudia was referred to The Christie for treatment. Read Claudia's story to find out how she felt supported by The Christie during her treatment.
Some patients at The Christie are so grateful for their treatment that they want to give something back to the hospital. One of these patients is Sebastian, who was told he had bowel cancer in April 2022. By the following summer, the cancer had spread and is now inoperable.
Despite currently undergoing chemotherapy every 2 weeks at The Christie, 54-year-old Sebastian took on the Altrincham 10K run for The Christie Charity in September 2024 with his daughter Olivia.
While Sebastian’s treatment has been demanding, he felt it was important to fundraise for The Christie Charity to help us continue to provide care and support for patients like him.
The father of 3 credits his resilience to The Christie. “It is thanks to The Christie I am alive,” he says. “Such is the warmth and care, a little bit of me actually looks forward to my chemotherapy appointments.”
