At The Christie, our freedom to speak up policy lets staff know they have a voice to raise concerns about anything that gets in the way of doing their job.
We are committed to achieving the highest possible standards of service and care, and staff can help with this by speaking up if they think there’s an issue. We want all staff to feel comfortable and able to speak up about anything that concerns them, and they have a range of ways to do this – whether they wish to raise a concern openly, confidentially or anonymously.
There are many examples of concerns that can be raised such as:
- Unsafe patient care
- Unsafe working conditions
- Inadequate induction or training
- Lack of, or poor, response to a reported patient safety incident
- Suspicions of fraud
- A bullying culture
One way for staff to raise concerns at The Christie is by speaking to the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian. The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian oversees all aspects of speaking up within the Trust, ensuring every staff member knows how to raise a concern or suggest improvements.
