Aanu Majaro is the winner of The Christie’s You Made a Difference Award for August 2025.
The following comments were made about Aanu in the July nominations. Judges picked her out as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about her showed how she represents The Christie values and behaviours.
“Aanu is the receptionist and started in January 2025. Her duties involve greeting and assisting visitors, managing incoming calls and correspondence, providing general administrative support to the department to ensure smooth operation.
“She consistently demonstrates an outstanding ability to connect with patients, treating each individual with warmth, empathy, and professionalism. Her strong communication skills and care help patients feel comfortable and supported, which contributes significantly to a positive experience when visiting the department.
“Aanu likes riding her bike and has recently got married. She is currently in the process off arranging another marriage ceremony back home.”

“Aanu has been on reception every day since I have started attending 4 weeks ago for radiotherapy. She always has a welcoming smile for you. On the second day she greeted me by my first name – William – to me, that made a big difference. I was a person, not just a patient undergoing radiotherapy.
