Mark Hillman, receptionist

Mark Hillman is the winner of The Christie’s You Made a Difference Award for May 2026.

The following comments were made about Mark in the May nominations. Judges picked him out as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about him showed how he represents The Christie values and behaviours.

“Mark joined the Trust in July 2021 after retiring as an ex-custody sergeant. Mark joined The Christie as a band 2 receptionist being one of our main reception staff welcoming our patients into our busy blood room (department 35).

“Mark deserves it because he’s dedicated, bubbly, goes above and beyond to ensure our blood room doesn’t get overcrowded, and patients have a smooth journey. Mark has gone above and beyond and can spot an unwell patient in which he highlights quickly to our nursing staff. His compassion, empathy and dedication truly make Mark a remarkable individual. Mark has built up an amazing rapport with our patients and he is a very valued member of the team. That’s why I think Mark deserves it.

“Mark likes to ride his motorcycle.”

Mark makes my wife relaxed when she has to go to department 35, which can be a hectic place at times. He is so friendly, polite, and professional. He has an air of authority whilst being calm and nice to everyone. He makes it a pleasant experience for my wife, which means so much. The whole team at department 35 are great, as are all the staff at The Christie. You take caring to a whole new level, thank you!
