Overview

This education programme has been developed by experts who are internationally renowned in the field of proton therapy. The teaching faculty have first-hand experience in setting up and developing the proton centre as well as experience in managing the patient treatment pathway. The faculty will be available throughout the course for questions.

Intended audience

A comprehensive proton education programme for clinicians, researchers, physicists, dosimetrists, radiographers and others with an interest in proton therapy.

Dates and module delivery

  • Week 1: Wednesday 5 November, Thursday 6 November and Friday 7 November 2025
  • Week 2: Monday 10 November, Wednesday 12 November and Thursday 13 November 2025
  • Week 3: Tuesday 18 November, Wednesday 19 November and Thursday 20 November 2025
  • Week 4: Thursday 27 November and Friday 28 November 2025
  • Week 5: Tuesday 2 December, Wednesday 3 December and Friday 5 December 2025

The above sessions will run at the same time every day, 8am to 10.15am GMT.

Please note: Some sessions may have a later finishing time of 10:30am GMT, and are subject to change, so please be aware when booking the course.

A 5-minute comfort break will be scheduled into each session.

Expert faculty

  • Dr Shermaine Pan - Consultant Clinical Oncologist, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Educational lead of The Christie Proton School
  • Prof Ed Smith - Clinical Director and Director of The Christie Proton School
  • Prof Ran McKay - Director of Christie Medical Physics and Engineering

Alongside these, the faculty includes programme managers, project managers and practitioners who have been directly involved in the development of a highly successful proton service.

Day-to-day decision-making processes will be demonstrated, including the opportunity to talk through real world cases.

The faculty will share their experiences and highlight key learning points.
