Lena qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1982 from Withington School of Physiotherapy, Manchester. She started working in oncology in 1993 at The Christie where she worked in the Physiotherapy Department for 20 years.
She has been part of the MSCC steering group in Greater Manchester and Cheshire since the beginning and helped to develop the local guidelines, MSCC pathway and ‘Red Flags’ alert card. She was appointed to develop the new role of MSCC Coordinator service which was launched in November 2013. Education for patients and clinicians is a big part of the role, and this has been and continues to be disseminated across the Manchester Cancer network.
Claire graduated as a therapeutic radiographer from the University of Portsmouth in 2013. On graduation, Claire joined The Christie as a radiographer and progressed to senior radiographer in 2015. She joined the Acute Oncology Management Service as the Specialist Therapy Radiographer in January 2018, and has close links with the 24/7 Hotline service and the patient admission and transfer suite (PAT Suite).
Alongside the network MSCC coordinator, Claire supports the triage of patients referred; she has particular focus on the internal radiotherapy patient pathway, ensuring patients are reviewed and managed efficiently.
