Specsavers Manchester, Christie fundraisers
The teams at the Specsavers store in Manchester decided to take on the Tatton 10k run on 10 September 2022. The staff members and directors at the store wanted to do the run as a challenge to themselves, but they also wanted to raise money for a charity within the Manchester region.
After speaking to the directors of the Manchester Specsavers store, the teams decided to do the Tatton 10k run in support of The Christie charity. They chose The Christie charity because they said it was clear that it was the 1 charity that all the staff wanted to get behind, because they have a connection in some way or another.
On the day of the Tatton 10k run, the Manchester Specsavers teams were relieved and exhausted when they managed to cross the finish line. They said it was very personal for everyone involved – some didn’t think they could run 10k, some used the training for the race to get fitter, lose some weight or just to attain that self-achievement. They also said it was great to raise money at the same time.
"Here at Specsavers, we are proud to work in partnership with the NHS and raising money for The Christie charity. It was such a natural decision for the store partners to make due to a personal connection in some way either for themselves, a family member, a colleague or a friend.
“As a business and as local directors, we were proud to choose The Christie.’’
