To mark World Cancer Day 2025, we’re inviting you to dazzle in your brightest, boldest neon outfits at the Night of Neon 2025. Join Team Christie on Saturday 8 February 2025 at an unforgettable 5K glow-in-the-dark adventure around Salford Quays.

No outfit is too bright, too garish, too shimmery, or too sparkly – more is definitely more!

Starting and finishing at the Lowry Plaza, you’ll dance, walk, or sashay your way around our illuminated route. With live entertainment, glowing face painting, neon artists, and pumping music along the way, the atmosphere at the Night of Neon 2025 will be fantastic!

What is the Night of Neon?
The Night of Neon is a 5k walking event being held on Saturday 8 February 2025. Money raised from the event goes to support The Christie Charity.

Where does the Night of Neon take place?
The Night of Neon starts and finishes at the Lowry Plaza (M50 3AZ). The 5k route will take participants around Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.

Is my registration fee refundable?
If the event is cancelled or postponed due to reasons beyond our control, we will make all reasonable attempts to reschedule the event, but this is not guaranteed. If we are unable to rearrange another date, you will be able to request a refund or kindly gift your registration fee to The Christie Charity.

What is included in the registration fee?
Your registration fee includes a neon t-shirt, glow wristband and neon finisher medal.

Do I have to fundraise?
We encourage participants to aim to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship to help us continue our fight against cancer. Get in touch with a member of our events team if you would like any fundraising materials or need any advice, we are here to help!

After I’ve registered, when will I receive my fundraising pack?
After you’ve registered, you’ll get your confirmation email within 24 hours. We’ll send out packs for Night of Neon in the post from December 2024 onwards.

We send these weekly by second class post, so they should arrive within 2 weeks. If you’ve not received your pack 2 weeks after you registered, contact us at events@christies.org to get a new one sent out.

Can I register on the day?
On-the-day registrations will take place from 18:30 if maximum participant capacity isn’t reached before the event.

What should I do if I can no longer attend the event?
We are sorry to hear that! If you can no longer attend the event, then email us at events@christies.org with your name and address. We can then withdraw you from the event, so you do not receive any further communications.

Should I run or walk?
This is a walking event. We kindly ask that participants do not run.

Who can take part?
The event is suitable for all ages. We ask that children under the age of 16 are accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Will the event be timed?
No, the event will not be timed.

Will there be refreshments?
Water will be provided for all participants.  

Will there be first aid?
Yes, there will be first aiders. We all ask all participants to provide emergency contact details on the back of their walker number.

Where can I park?
The Lowry does not have its own car park however parking is available at the Quayside multi-storey car park (formally Lowry Outlet).

How do I get there via Tram?
Use the Eccles line and the MediaCityUK line. Trams from Manchester city centre take approximately 15 minutes. 
Eccles line: alight at Harbour City stop and walk for approximately 10 minutes.
MediaCityUK line: alight at MediacityUK stop and walk for approximately 5 minutes.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are permitted but must be always kept on leads.

Will water be provided at the event?
To help further reduce our carbon footprint, and limit plastic waste created, we will not provide bottled water for every participant. There will be a limited number of bottles available, but we encourage all walkers to bring their own bottles from home.
