A close shave
Looking for a different way of fundraising? Are you up to the challenge of shaving your head for donations?
A sponsored head shave is an emotional way to fundraise in support of The Christie. It’s not for everyone but it can be a good way to raise money and awareness of cancer.
Some people take on a sponsored head shave challenge when someone close to them has an experience of cancer. If a family member or friend is having cancer treatment, you might decide to do a sponsored head shave to raise money in support of their cancer care.
Or if a colleague has recently had a cancer diagnosis, you and your team might feel moved to do a group head shave in support.
Your colleagues, friends and family members can sponsor you or even bid against each other for the chance to shave your head. You could even do this as a team, and make it a team fundraising challenge!
Let everyone know about your plans for a sponsored head shave by sharing it on social media. You can also set a fundraising target and aim to reach this before you go ahead with the shave.
On the day itself, make sure everyone who sponsored you is there to support you. If your venue isn’t big enough to allow social distancing, you could livestream your head shave. This also gives you the chance to post your fundraising link and boost donations.
After your sponsored head shave, consider donating your hair to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients. This is another really personal way you can help support people with cancer.
If you’re thinking of doing a head shave for The Christie, make sure to get in touch and request a fundraising pack from us. We can send you out a free Christie t-shirt to wear on the day.
