Sam Hart, Christie fundraiser
This month, we’re putting Sam Hart and her friends, Sinead King and Ammi King in our fundraiser hall of fame.
Sam was inspired to take on a fundraising event for charity with Sinead and Ammi in loving memory of Sinead’s husband Danny. Danny sadly died from melanoma in January 2021, and Sam, Sinead and Ammi wanted to do something in tribute to him.
The 3 friends decided to take on the Isle of Wight Challenge in July 2021 in Danny’s memory. This involved walking an incredible 100km around the island.
Sam, Sinead and Ammi decided to support The Christie charity with their Isle of Wight Challenge due to the hospital’s ground-breaking research and melanoma trials. By taking on the mammoth walking challenge, the trio raised over £10,000.
But Sam, Sinead and Ammi didn’t stop there. They also held a community memorial and celebration day for Danny’s life in September 2021. The day included a football tournament, a variety of stalls and food and drink, and raised a further £3,500 for The Christie charity.
Sam said the fundraising events for The Christie charity helped Danny’s friends and families feel like they were doing something positive in his memory and gave them a great way to pay tribute to him.
“Taking on this challenge to raise money for The Christie felt like the perfect way to remember Danny. It also gave friends and family an opportunity to support a good cause in his memory, which helped so much at the time. We were overwhelmed by the support and delighted to have raised the amount we did.”
