Professional biography
Dr Claire Barker graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School in 2009 and completed specialist oncology training in the North-West Deanery. She joined The Christie NHS Foundation Trust as a consultant in 2023.
Dr Barker specialises in advanced radiotherapy techniques for lung cancers, brain metastases, and pituitary tumours. She has led significant service innovations, including neuro-oncology referral pathway reform across Greater Manchester and the development of stereotactic radiosurgery protocols.
Nationally, Dr Barker co-leads the Tessa Jowell SRS Working Group, influencing UK policy and is committed to standardisation of stereotactic radiosurgery. She has published on brain metastases and is committed to education and mentorship, organising regional and national conferences and supporting oncology trainees through LTFT and SuppoRTT initiatives.
Her research focuses on improving neuro-oncology pathways, integrating digital solutions, and reducing treatment delays through strategic partnerships. She is passionate about embedding innovation and personalised care into cancer services.
