Roles/responsibilities at The Christie: Consultant Medical Oncologist providing treatment of patients with early and advanced breast cancer with systemic anti-cancer therapy.

Roles/responsibilities at other sites: Provides consultant medical oncology services at the outreach oncology site at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. Breast cancer outpatient clinic and member of the breast cancer multi-disciplinary team.

Professional biography

Dr Munzir Hamid graduated in medicine from the University of Science and Technology, Sudan, in 2009. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine in Saudi Arabia and obtained MRCP (UK) in 2016 before immigrating to Ireland in 2017, where he joined and completed higher specialist training in Medical Oncology at training sites in University Hospital Galway, University Hospital Waterford, and Cork University Hospital.

He held a Clinical Lecturer position at the College of Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and was an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Medicine, University College Cork. He was appointed Consultant in Medical Oncology at Cork University Hospital in 2023. In 2025, he joined The Christie as a Consultant in Medical Oncology with a specialist interest in breast cancer.
