Within the melanoma service at The Christie, there is a dedicated research team committed to advancing innovation and improving patient care. Research is a collaborative effort across the entire team, with staff working closely in partnership. The research team is comprised of both administrative and clinical staff.

‘The Christie has earned a worldwide reputation for delivering high-quality melanoma treatment and research. We are at the forefront of pioneering therapies and scientific discoveries, continually advancing care for patients with melanoma.

With one of the largest portfolios of clinical studies in the UK, we play a key role in driving international progress in this field. We offer access to innovative treatments through clinical trials for eligible patients, ensuring that pioneering therapies are available as early as possible.’

Manchester is recognised as a global hub for melanoma research. For instance, the inaugural “Lab to Life” conference, hosted in the city, brought together an international community of researchers to share knowledge and celebrate ongoing advancements. The Christie is also one of the UK’s leading centres for patient recruitment into melanoma studies, further strengthening its contribution to global research efforts.

There is a diverse range of trials happening at The Christie, which are continually adapting to current discoveries. The Christie works in partnership with The University of Manchester and CRUK Manchester Institute to make up the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. This collaboration enables us to provide patients with the highest quality of care and treatment options possible.
