At The Christie, we have internationally recognised skills in sponsoring, hosting and delivering clinical research studies and trials. We run around 900 studies and trials.

Our clinical research studies and trials include gathering evidence to stimulate innovation, improve people’s experience of cancer treatment and care and enable earlier diagnosis. We also collect, analyse and interpret data to gain insight into cancer treatment and outcomes.

The studies and trials we run include measuring the effectiveness of compounds that can block cancer and studying how cancer develops differently in different people in order to create personalised medicines (precision oncology). The Christie is a leader in ‘first-in-human’ clinical trials and hosts more cancer clinical trials for industry than anywhere else in the country.

Clinical research studies assess treatments, technologies or methods. Clinical trials are a particular type of clinical research study that involves people in assessing a treatment and its effects.
