Linda Fitzpatrick is our April 2022 You Made a Difference award winner. The following comments were made about Linda in the April nominations.
Judges picked her out as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about her showed how she represents The Christie principles and behaviours.
“Linda is a Christie at Home sister who goes out daily to patients’ houses to deliver treatment so that patients do not have to travel to receive their treatment. Linda has been with The Christie since 2008 and has worked as a nurse on various wards and roles during this time.
“Linda had spent a whole day with a patient and went above and beyond to make sure the patient was safe while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. She liaised with the team to cover the rest of the patients she was due to treat that day so she could stay with the patient showing outstanding communication and management skills.
“She always goes above and beyond for her patients and for her fellow staff members and is a really valuable member of the team and fully deserving of this award.
“Linda likes going to gigs and festivals, is a big Liverpool FC fan and enjoys spending time with her family.”

“Linda was treating with The Christie at Home team and found a patient lying on the floor who had unfortunately fallen. The patient was unable to get up even with assistance and an ambulance was needed. The wait time on this was given as up to 11 hours.
“Linda still had patients to treat but organised with the team for them to be treated by other members of staff so that she could stay and look after the patient who had fallen.
“If Linda had not been visiting, the outcome for this patient could have been significantly worse. Whilst she was in the right place at the right time, she also went above and beyond to help this patient, staying with them until the ambulance eventually arrived and making sure the patient was comfortable throughout.
“The patient has thanked Linda for all she did, but I feel we as a Trust should also show our appreciation and gratitude to Linda for doing this, especially when she was in on a bank shift so was already helping us.”
