The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) is a joint venture between The Christie and SYNLAB, Europe’s largest laboratory services provider and is present in over 40 countries globally.
The partnership uses the very latest technologies, working methods and diagnostic techniques to help deliver improved outcomes for its patients. CPP is one of the UK’s leading reference centres specialising in cancer detection and treatment.
The histopathology unit is a leading referral centre for surgical pathology/histopathology oncology services in the following areas:
- uropathology,
- gynaecological cancer,
- appendiceal and peritoneal malignancies,
- haematopathology,
- neuroendocrine tumours,
- thyroid malignancies,
- soft tissue and melanoma.
We can offer a second opinion in any of the areas listed above as well as:
- General surgical oncology
- Digital Pathology
- Complex cases
As part of SYNLAB’s global reference testing network, clients have access to novel and exclusive tests for their patients including; oncology cytogenetics, FISH and specialist biochemistry assays.
We can also offer advice to clients regarding their requirements for an oncology pathology service and establishment of a clinical laboratory service.
The department is also a leading provider of educational expertise in this area for trainees in histopathology and undergraduate students of the University of Manchester Medical School.
There is close collaboration in research projects with the Manchester Cancer Research Centre and Cancer Research UK Paterson Institute.
