In 2012, Phil was diagnosed with prostate cancer and successfully treated at The Christie, giving him a personal understanding of cancer and its challenges.

Phil has lived in Cheshire for most of his life and is also a Trustee and Ambassador for Prostate Cancer Support and a Manchester 'Answer Cancer' lead champion.

Before establishing his own business in 2002, Phil was a senior manager in industry.

Phil says he is massively indebted to The Christie for effectively saving his life and sees the role of governor as an opportunity to use his background and skills to really ‘give something back’.
