Systemic treatments are drug therapies that work throughout the whole of the body. They can be given as an injection, infusion, or oral medication.
They include chemotherapy, hormonal treatment, targeted therapy or immunotherapy. The type of treatment we give will depend on the type of cancer.
Systemic treatments can be used on their own, in combination with different types of systemic treatments or in combination with radiotherapy.
