Strike action from Thursday 27 June to Tuesday 2 July 2024

Junior doctors at The Christie will strike from 7am on Thursday 27 June until 7am on Tuesday 2 July 2024.

We are proactively contacting patients with appointments that may be affected. If you have an appointment on any of these dates, please continue to come to The Christie and our other centres as planned, unless we contact you to tell you otherwise. Please do not call to check if your appointment is still going ahead.

Who do we see?

Our department at The Christie is not involved with diagnosis. Patients or doctors concerned about symptoms must have diagnostic tests such as brain scans performed at their local hospital or at Salford Royal FT.

GP referrals are accepted for patients with known a tumour diagnosis who are seeking a second opinion, or who have moved into the area following treatment elsewhere.

Almost all of our referrals come via the Neuro-oncology Multi-disciplinary Team meeting (MDT) at SRFT, or from the Base of Skull or Pituitary MDTs. You can read more on the Neuro-oncology patient pathway page; the Base of Skull and Pituitary tumour pathways are similar.
