Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to destroy tumour cells.
There are many different types of chemotherapy drugs. Sometimes they are given as tablets or capsules and some are given by injection (intravenously).
Chemotherapy is only used for certain types of tumours and is sometimes given in combination with radiotherapy. Your doctor will discuss this with you.
More information about having chemotherapy can be found here
Specific information leaflets about individual drugs and drug combinations are also available; your doctor or a member of the neuro-oncology team can advise you on which of these you need to read.
