Sarcoma team

This team specialises in the treatment of sarcomas.

Sarcomas are very rare tumours which can arise in bone/ cartilage or various soft tissues (e.g. muscle, nerves, blood vessels). They can occur in all age groups but some subtypes occur more often in teenage and young adult (TYA) patients.

The multidisciplinary team work closely with designated sarcoma teams throughout the UK. The team is comprised of Consultant clinical oncologists, junior doctors, nurse clinicians, keyworkers, specialist nurses and radiographers. Patients and carers will see members of this team before, during and after proton beam therapy at The Christie.

The consultant clinical oncologist on the team is Dr Wylie. The consultant medical oncologists on the team, who will discuss and plan any chemotherapy that you might need are Prof McCabe and Dr A Lee.
