Physio will get you out of bed as soon as possible, usually the day after your operation.
Getting out of bed early helps to ease wind pain and prevent complications. You will be taught to roll onto your side (log roll) and then push up into sitting using your arms. This helps avoid excess strain being placed on your tummy muscles. The physio will initially help you with this technique and is also know by the ward staff who can also help you to get out of bed.
