Responsibilities
Consultant in medical oncology specialising in lung and colorectal cancers. Dr Marti is an active member of the colorectal and lung teams, participating in weekly specialist MDTs and contributing to research in both tumour types. She is also a visiting oncologist at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan. This allows more patients to be treated closer to home.
Dr Marti also contribute to the Acute Oncology Service at Wigan and lead the local carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP) service and CUP MDT.
Professional biography
After qualifying as a doctor in Spain, Dr Marti has completed all postgraduate training in the UK. She completed her specialist training in the West Midlands region. During this specialist training, she took a break from clinical work to take up the post of Clinical Research Fellow at the Paterson Institute and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. During this period, Dr Marti conducted some research on circulating biomarkers of angiogenesis in patients with bowel cancer and was awarded a PhD by the University of Manchester in 2015.
