Professional biography
Dr Phillips is a Clinical Academic and Consultant Haematologist, working within the medical oncology department and Manchester lymphoma group at The Christie. She graduated from Imperial College, University of London, in 2007 and has been regularly treating lymphoma patients since 2011, as part of haematology training at University College Hospital London.
She conducted postgraduate research at King’s College London, investigating the role of the immune system in follicular lymphoma. She was a Lymphoma Trials Fellow at the University College London Cancer Trials Centre from 2015 to 2019. During this time she contributed to a number of practice-changing national and international clinical trials. She moved to Manchester in January 2020 to take up a consultant post at The Christie.
Dr Phillips is an active member of the UK NCRI (National Cancer Research Institute) Lymphoma Research Group and Hodgkin Lymphoma subgroup, working with clinicians across the UK to find ways of improving treatments for lymphoma. She is chief investigator and principal investigator for multiple lymphoma clinical trials. She has co-authored national guidelines on the treatment of central nervous system lymphomas. She participates in international collaborations to evaluate prognostic markers and novel therapies for Hodgkin lymphoma. Dr Phillips has a particular interest in the treatment of young persons with lymphoma.
Research Interest
- Developing novel treatments and immunotherapy for lymphoma and clinical trials.
- Identifying biomarkers to enable risk-adapted, individualised treatment approaches
- Late effects of treatment and survivorship
Educational Interests
Dr Phillips has an active interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education. She regularly lectures on Masters degree programmes at the University of Manchester.
