Professional biography
Professor Smith specialises in paediatric radiation oncology and has a particular interest in using advanced radiotherapy to reduce the risk of late effects of treatment, as well as an interest in particle therapies, including proton beam therapy (PBT). He led development/delivery of the PBT service, which opened in 2018. He also undertakes research in the use of real-world clinical data to improve patient care and is also engaged as an advisor to several national and international bodies/institutions.
