Routes into radiotherapy
The traditional route into radiotherapy is via a full-time three year BSc (Hons) in therapeutic radiography. Please see the University of Liverpool undergraduate course for more information.
For prospective students that already have an honours degree at 2:1 can enter the postgraduate diploma courses in therapy radiography that only take two years to complete as a full-time student. Please see the University of Liverpool postgraduate course for more information.
It is compulsory that the prospective student obtains a clinical observational visit in a radiotherapy department in order to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of radiotherapy practice as distinct from diagnostic radiography practice.
The observational half day visit is offered at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and can be arranged by contacting a member of the radiotherapy education team.
The role of the education team
Radiotherapy education involves providing the commitment for supporting students on the undergraduate and postgraduate programme that has been put in place here at The Christie.
We have supported students not only from the University of Liverpool, but a range of students from elective students from another department in the country to perspective students who wish to pursue a career in radiotherapy.
We are also continuously looking at ways of increasing the number of students entering radiotherapy training, and ways of supporting, developing and retaining existing radiographers.
Please contact our clinical education team for all prospective student visits.
