Each and every person who works at The Christie performs a valuable role which directly links to patient care. Whether it is a nurse delivering chemotherapy treatments, a member of the administration team sending out an appointment letter, a surgeon performing a robotic procedure, the domestic teams ensuring our wards are spotlessly clean, or an IT engineer keeping our computer systems running, there is a huge variety of roles that come together to make The Christie special.

All our staff go to tremendous lengths to help each and every one of our patients and together: We are The Christie.

Aamir Hussain works in our IT team, managing the software we use across the Trust and making sure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Aamir is currently fasting from dawn to dusk as part of the Muslim mandatory religious practice of Ramadhan. Some of his non-Muslim colleagues also took part for a day on 6 March 2025 as part of a campaign organised by our faith and belief staff network.

Aamir is a member of the network and has been involved in setting up a new prayer room to be used during Ramadhan. The group is also arranging a celebratory meal in the canteen for Eid ul-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of the fast.

Ramadhan is very important to me – it deepens my faith and helps me feel closer to God through fasting, prayer and charity work – so the fact that my colleagues want to experience that with me means a lot.
