Strike action from Thursday 27 June to Tuesday 2 July 2024

Junior doctors at The Christie will strike from 7am on Thursday 27 June until 7am on Tuesday 2 July 2024.

We are proactively contacting patients with appointments that may be affected. If you have an appointment on any of these dates, please continue to come to The Christie and our other centres as planned, unless we contact you to tell you otherwise. Please do not call to check if your appointment is still going ahead.

After diagnosis

For some patients, treatment consists of surgery alone; those patients are followed up by their neurosurgeon at Salford Royal Hospital (SRFT) and do not need to come to The Christie.

Patients for whom radiotherapy (high energy X-rays) and / or chemotherapy (drug treatment) is being suggested will be seen in The Christie’s new patient peripheral clinic at SRFT. This clinic takes place on Thursday mornings and patients are usually seen within 1 to 2 weeks of surgery.

Patients whose tumours have been diagnosed from scans alone (imaging diagnosis) may not need any treatment, may be referred to local symptom control teams or may be offered an appointment at the SRFT Christie new patient clinic.
